In My Mind: Alexandrov Is Too Good to Be American
Now that’s a headline that will catch your attention, won’t it?
Sure enough, Mike Alexandrov—an Olympian for Bulgaria in 2004—dropped amazing times over 100 yards breaststroke at the US Short Course Nationals. But from the ‘B’ final. Did I mention he’s the American record holder? If you’re confused, you should be. So are the rest […]
USA Nats: Day Two Wrap-Up
Close, but not close enough.
That’s the sentiment from Day Two after seeing many close-to-record races. But as the meet wound down, just when we thought no records would be broken, Club Wolverine destroyed the American and U.S. Record in the day’s last event — the 800 free relay – by almost two seconds. Here’s the breakdown:

Texas Invite: Day One Wrap-Up
While the Texas Invite is somewhat overshadowed by the U.S. Short Course Nationals, that doesn’t mean there isn’t fast swimming at this meet, too. While you could get the full results here, I did a lot of work to type all this, so READ IT. Here’s the breakdown:

Ryan Lochte, you’ve just broken an American Record! What are you going to do now?
Lochte: ”I’m going to bed.”

The Swimmers’ Ear: The Old Familiar Places
I drive past the 45mph sign. “One minute until the Aquatic Center,” I say to myself. I used to pass this sign every day on my way to swim practice, that 45mph sign. Once you pass it, you have about one minute until you reach the pool.

“Are you blind?” That was the question that head of the medical commission of the Pan American Games Eduardo de Rose was asked by his 10 year old grandson about Brazilian swimmer Rebeca Gusmao. As a result, de Rose “laid a trap” for Gusmao that eventually led to the positive test for which she is […]

That meet is a go. But how would you feel if just a week before you planned to swim at that meet (or […]
