Men’s NCAA Division 1 Psych Sheet Released
In line with recent tradition (and certainly the women’s D1 Psych Sheet), this meet took unprecedented times to merit an invitation. The women’s meet is so far beyond historically fast (10 total B cuts falls into the realm of stupidly fast), one could easily overlook how truly quick the men’s cuts are this year.
Pac 10 Champs: Soni Takes Down NCAA Mark, Arizona Three-Peats
It would only be appropriate that the fine swimming from the Pac 10 do the talking, not me. I will only say that Rebecca Soni is outside the realm of mere mortals.
Virginia Men Win Going Away at ACC’s
No one put up much of a fight for the Cavaliers in the team standings in this one, just a year after the Florida State Men broke through with a huge win. Similar to the Big 12’s and Big 10’s though, you shouldn’t tune into these results for the team race but to see some great […]
Wolverines Dominate Big 10’s
Congratulations to Bob Bowman and his Michigan Wolverines, 2008 Big 10 Champions. Using a variety of weapons and amazing depth, the Wolverines won this one going away. The last night featured some incredible two-man races, you don’t want to miss ‘em.
Big 12’s Live Updates: Last Night
Well, you probably aren’t going to tune in tonight for the team standings. Turns out it’s a one horse race on both sides with the Texas men and A&M Women out to insurmountable leads. But, the spotlight has been and will continue to be on individual efforts. Tonight’s events provided a perfect stage for the […]
Kukors/Soni Light up Pac 10’s
These girls just keep getting faster. With so many premiere teams and swimmers in one league the chemistry is usually just right for ridiculously fast swimming. UW’s Ariana Kukors and USC’s Rebecca Soni certainly don’t appear to object.
Michigan Maintains Lead at Big 10’s
We said that Indiana and Minnesota would have to be close to perfect from here on in if they were to challenge Michigan for tops in the Big 10. In line with that, despite a strong push by Indiana tonight it appears that Michigan’s depth will be too much to overcome.
Big 12’s Live Updates: Third Night
Once again I find myself here, laptop pulled out and ready to take flak from all those who surround me in order to bring you up to the minute results from this year’s Big 12 Championships. After an American Record on the first night and an overflow of Conference Marks yesterday eve there is no reason to expect […]
Michigan Out to Huge Lead After Dominant First Day
The Bob Bowman era of Michigan swimming appears to be on the verge of its first Big 10 Championship. Expected to be strong in the 500’s, the Wolverines used dominating depth all night to cruise out to a big lead. How big? Let’s just say that any team that wants to beat them will need to be close […]
Big 12’s: Live Updates Vol. II
The response was so warm last night that I almost went Costanza on you and quit when I was ahead. Maybe next time. But for now I’ve got the spell check on (thanks Mel), the laptop powered up and my fingers popped. Let’s do this thing.
Big 12’s Live Updates: Texas Destroys Phelps et al’s American Record
Hey, if you’re going to watch a meet, why not share the results with everyone? The medley and 800 free relays got underway tonight in Austin, TX.
Minnesota Gophers Win Big 10 Crown
Having only taken over the program in 2004, co-head coaches Kelly Kremer and Terry Nieszner have to be in the discussion for coaches of the year. What they have done at Minnesota is simply phenomenal and truly showed up at this year’s Championships. The Gophers’ win was highlighted by freshman phenom Jillian Tyler.
Cielo, Spofforth, Dylla Light Up Final Day of SEC’s
Congratulations to the Auburn Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams, once again SEC Champions. Cesar Cielo was “pretty good” today in the individual, but wait til you see what he did on the relay. And I would like to welcome Florida’s Gemma Spofforth to the spotlight, what a 200 back she had.
Virginia Women Win ACC Championships
Virginia used unbelievable depth to come out on top of all competitors at this year’s ACC Championships. It didn’t come easy, however, as all teams put up some very competitive times.
Minnesota Rolling at Big 10 Championships
The Golden Gophers are in a heated battle with Michigan for the Big 10 title going into today’s finals. Minnesota finds itself with a slim 13.5 point margin. In individual action, the whole league looked impressive.
