Western Sectionals Close Out Strong, Kukors Highlights

More than a dozen new meet records were set over the five day Western Sectionals that concluded tonight in Federal Way, Washington, in the pool that hosted the 1998 Goodwill Games.
Starting off the final session was the women’s 200 IM, which was won by 2007 World Championships team member Ariana Kukors.

Night Two Results of Speedo West Sectionals

The first full night of action got underway in Federal Way, Washington with the 100-meter freestyles. Megan Jendrick, of host team KING Aquatics, won the ladies’ half in 56.49, beating out Traycie Swartz (56.54) and KING teammate and Olympic hopeful for Russia, Svet Karpeeva (56.93).

Weber-Gale Sizzles on First Night of All-American Invite

Garrett Weber-Gale capped off an evening of ridiculously fast swimming in Austin tonight with a new Texas Swim Center and University of Texas team record of 21.93 in the 50 meter freestyle that moves the former NCAA champion and world record holder to number 2 in the world in that event.

Michigan Maintains Lead at Big 10’s

Watch out for Petra Dallmann.  A member of the German World Record 400 and 800 free relay is swimming very well and added another meet record to her cap today at the Luxembourg Euro Meet.   The Germans looked good in general, although backstroke ace Helge Meeuw had to deal with some stiff competition.

Erikd Vendt’s 1650 wasn’t the fastest of all-time…it was the third.  The surprise of the night went to Amanda Beard’s 100 breast but really, this night needs absolutely no hype as the best swimmers in America were in action and swimming unbelievably fast.  I would suggest checking it out.
